When God Walks Into the Room

Navigating through life keeps us busy! So busy that we forget to notice the subtle. The subtle moments that are filled with great power. The world is noisy and God isn’t in the business of forcing Himself on us by simply being louder. I think He is more in the business of waiting for us to tune in and see Him.

He’s not hiding.

He’s not playing hard to get.

He simply isn’t into drama.

He’s subtle.

Miraculous …  but subtle.

Powerful … but subtle.

This weekend we worshiped Him with the words of the Jesus Culture song, When You Walk Into the Room  written by Bryan and Katie Torwalt. Friends, the song shook me. I’m focused on the moments. I write about moments. Not missing them. Holding onto them. Making them count.

But in spite of that, I still miss the power of Jesus when He walks into the room.

Do we miss the subtle but powerful presence of God because of noise of the world? Are we too busy? Do we let the world drown Him out? But friends, when God walks into the room, ever hopeless situation ceases to exist! We can't keep missing His presence. -Lyrics from When You Walk Into the Room - Jesus Culture; Lori Schumaker #MomentsofHope

It’s not something I can afford to miss! Or want to miss. How about you?

How about we commit to encouraging each other to stay aware of the subtle? To look for God and see Him in the moments of hope? There is resurrection life in all He does. Let’s not miss it!

  1. I absolutely love this song, Lori! We sing it at church, too, and it always moves me. I need those frequent reminders to be still and know He is God—right now, right here.

    1. You and I both need those frequent reminders! Goodness, just when I think I couldn’t possible forget! Thanks, Lisa!

  2. Lori, I love this! There is resurrection power in everything Jesus does. Why are we so easily distracted by the problem and forget to see Him. Thanks for this powerful reminder today! What a wonderful way to begin the week!

    1. Oh, yes, Deb! We so easily take our eyes off Him and place them on the problem! This song was such a wake-up call for me!
      Blessings and smiles,
      Lori

  3. I’m not sure why, but that visual image of the omnipresent God walking into a room just arrests my heart this afternoon, and lets me know that I can invite Him into every room — no matter how messy. Thanks so much for this thought and for the heads up about Elizabeth’s place.

    1. Hi Michele,
Yes! He doesn’t mind the mess! As a matter of fact, He knows just what to do with that mess! Love having you here, friend!
      Blessings and smiles,
      Lori

  4. During tomorrow morning prayer time I will spend time contemplating God walking in the room. He really does wait and is found in the stillness. He just wants us to open the door so He can walk in. Thanks for the Moment reminder.

    1. Karen,
I am praying for your time of stillness! Blessings to you and thank you for visiting today!

  5. Oh, this is just lovely, lovely, lovely. Soothing to the soul.
What an amazing God we have.

  6. Lori, lately I have been dreaming and discussing being in the presence of God. I feel blessed inside as my assurance in my Savior grows each day. What a beautifully poignant visual! The hopeless ceases to exist.. I will remember that one for sure! Thank you Lori for doing what you do here. I have been struggling with some painful health issues the past couple weeks but I’ve been asking God to allow me to write and I am pleased for the opportunity to share here today. Thanks again for your support. Have a wonderful week and God bless!

    1. Horace,
I am so sorry for the painful health issues. Pain and illness … doctors … hospitals. All of it can drain our souls of hope and joy. But I am believing in our God who gives life – gives hope – resurrects all! I am believing He is in you and doing a great work! Your words of inspiration to others give so much hope and the enemy would love nothing more than to sap you of that very hope! I am praying against him in the Name of Jesus now and praying for your spirit to be refreshed and renewed with God’s hope. I am honored to have you share alongside me each week at Moments of Hope! Thank you for blessing me and others!

  7. God is Enough! We can never be reminded of that enough! Thank you so much for hosting. Sorry, I am late this week. A storm had my internet knocked out this past week. Also, I just wanted to let you know that you are the Featured Friend this week at Sitting Among Friends. So glad you are here every week!

  8. I want so much to believe this, all of this Lori. My faith is on shaky ground these days and today, when you linked to my party, I almost couldn’t bring myself to read it. Thank you for sharing!

  9. I love this, Lori! I don’t want to miss the power of Jesus in the room. Sometimes it’s something powerful, but simple and I miss it. I don’t want to miss it!! That’s my prayer today, “Lord, help me to see you in the subtle, in the little things that are so incredibly powerful. Help me not to miss you when You’re in the room! In Jesus’ name, Amen!”

  10. Yes friend, when God walks in to any situation there is a tremendous difference.
    Blessings to you friend

  11. Be still. Two words I need to work on at the moment. Even with all of life’s changes going on right now, I know Jesus is in the room and all I have to do is BE STILL. Thanks Lori, for this much needed reminder. Thank you for sharing with Thankful Thursdays.

  12. Thankful that God is enough and still working on living out that truth in my life every day. “When He walks in a room, every hopeless situation ceases to exist”…what a huge exhale when we truly let that sink deeply into our soul! I so desperately needed this reminder this morning to bring perspective and hope! Love this community and your heart for hope Lori:) Hugs, Crystal~
