Why Waiting Has You Questioning Everything!

You have a dream. You have felt the calling. You know it’s what you are meant to do. Yet you have hit roadblock after roadblock.

As you wait ... and wait ... and wait, have you questioned just what it is you are waiting on? Are you questioning your purpose? And questioning God? Don't lose hope and remember these 5 things we need to learn during this season of preparation! -Why Waiting Has You Questioning Everything - Lori Schumaker for Missional Women #ChosenandWorthy

Waiting.
Waiting.
And waiting some more.

The failures, “no’s”, and doors seemingly slammed in your face have left you feeling unworthy.

But unworthy is not what God has for us.

He sees the whole picture and is walking you through a season of preparation.

During the wait,God sees the whole picture and is walking you through a season of preparation #ChosenandWorthy @MissionalWomen Click To Tweet

As the mother to Isaac, who became one of three Patriarchs to the Israelites, Sara had once been an elderly barren woman grappling with desperation.

As the Vizier, the second most powerful man in Egypt next to Pharaoh, Joseph had once been unloved, despised, and thrown into a pit.

Known as the man most after God’s own heart, King David spent years on the run in the wilderness waiting for His crowning moment of King.

Each spent years in preparation for a God-given purpose that didn’t come easy. A purpose still impacting our world today.

I wonder, over time, did Sara feel shame for being unable to bear children? Did Joseph question his worth when his own brothers inflicted evil upon him? Did David doubt whether he’d really ever assume the role as King?

I think most of us have been in this place at least once in our lifetime. A place where the season of waiting doesn’t make sense anymore. A place where our flesh pushes to the edge of our emotions.

Does the long wait have you questioning EVERYTHING? #ChosenandWorthy #identity #waiting @MissionalWomen Click To Tweet

It’s in these times, when the dream is detoured, we hear the whispers of the enemy calling us unworthy.

But, sweet sister, if this is where you are, can I look http://laparkan.com/buy-vardenafil/ into your eyes, and say, “Stop?”

  1. Hopping on over to read the rest of your post. And congrats on being a contributor for Missional Women.

  2. Hi, Lori – waiting and walking forward at the same time is a matter of faith, which pleases our Father – great post.( ps are you no longer doing a link party on Mondays?)

    1. Hi Sue! I’m just taking a couple weeks off while my kiddos are on their 2-week spring break! I will be back next Monday and can’t wait ♥ I miss my people!
      Hugs,
      Lori

  3. Lori- have you been in my head lately because I have felt this way. Trying to be obedient to what I think God is leading me to and then how hard it is with obstacles is frustrating and confusing!
Thank you for this encouragement, I needed some TLC today 🙂
    Hugs!

    1. You are not alone, Julie! I think so many women find themselves in this position far too often. A spirit of doubt loves to race its way through our thoughts trying to settle in our souls. But together in prayer, it surely has no chance! God is for us and His purpose is clear and cannot be deterred! Praying with and for you, friend ♥

  4. It’s one of the things I love about you, Melanie! You are a get-it-done kind of person! It makes it even harder to wait when you have that kind of wiring, though!lol!
    Love ya,
    Lori

  5. Amen to this. From someone who’s very very familiar with waiting. 🙂

  6. So encouraging! I love that you called the season of waiting as preparation. It’s extremely difficult to adopt that mindset, but once we do, our waiting has so much more purpose.

    1. I’m so glad our thoughts aligned here, Lindsey! It is tough to do, but it truly changes it all. I wish I would have had a better grasp on that almost 8 years ago when we first began the adoption process. I would have waited better!

  7. Waiting is my deepest and darkest trial — and it shows up all the holes in my theology. Thank you for words that encourage me to do better next time.
