As I walked away from my friend, I felt that familiar ache in my heart. Another time … another relationship … another situation that hurt.
I knew in my mind we live in a broken world and immunity from that brokenness isn’t part of the program. But that truth didn’t stop the hurt. Or the waves of self-doubt, distrust, and lies.
When People Hurt You
I wish I could protect you from the hurt of rejection and betrayal. But I can’t. What I can tell you, though, is there is a way through it where landing on the other side, feet planted and hands raised in victory is possible.
There is a way through rejection and betrayal that doesn’t destroy us. A way that keeps our hearts beating with passion and future relationships flourishing in love. A way that propels us into our purpose … our calling … our dreams. There is a way through rejection and betrayal that doesn't destroy us. A way that keeps our hearts beating with passion and future relationships flourishing. #risingabovehurt #betrayal #rejection #momentsofhope #freejournal Click To Tweet
A Better Way
Once upon a time I was a young woman who allowed the enemy to use rejection and betrayal to keep me stuck. I was stuck in shame because of both the hurt inflicted on me by others and the hurt I brought on myself. I didn’t know Truth like I do today. I believed too many lies allowing the enemy open access to deep places in my heart.
Then there was Jesus.
He changed everything. Today it’s the reason I write here and speak to women. It’s the passion behind this ministry. He loves us deeply – beyond anything we could ever imagine. He calls us His – wonderful, chosen, beloved.
He cancels out the brokenness of the world and gives us a way.
Remember who created you, O Jacob? Who shaped you, O Israel? See, you have nothing to fear. I, who made you, will take you back. I have chosen you, named you as My own. When you face stormy seas I will be there with you with endurance and calm; you will not be engulfed in raging rivers. If it seems like you’re walking through fire with flames licking at your limbs, keep going; you won’t be burned. Because I, the Eternal One, am your God. I am the Holy One of Israel, and I will save you. I have traded in nations to win you back, Egypt, Cush, and Seba, in exchange for your freedom. Because you are special to Me and I love you, I gladly give up other peoples in exchange for you; They are trivial by comparison to your weighty significance. -Isaiah 43:1-4 (VOICE)
Join Me for the Next Series!
When People Hurt You: Rising Above the Emotional Pain of Rejection and Betrayal is a series that will look into the Word of God as a guide to not just surviving, but rising victoriously over hurt. Starting next week, I will address a new aspect of rejection and betrayal each week that only serves to keep us stuck in the pain rather than moving forward to where we want to be. I’ve created a Scripture Based Journal and Growth Guide that corresponds to each weekly devotional post giving you an opportunity to go deeper and make each lesson more meaningful.
I have placed this journal in the Library of Hope! If you have already subscribed to our community, jump on over and grab your copy! This Week’s Featured #MomentsofHope Writers
#MomentsofHope is all about hope. Each week as I browse through all the posts linked up here (yes all … even if I don’t comment, please know I stop by, pray, and share your posts), I am overwhelmed by the beauty of words connected here. All share hope and all point to Jesus as that hope. I believe God is using those words in His way and multiplying them beyond what we comprehend. Each word we write is our offering to the God who loves us beyond measure and gives us hope to walk through any storm.
Each week it is so difficult to pick only one post to feature. There are many each week that are beautifully written, filled with hope, and give me goosebumps. So, I’ve decided to change the way I do features. Going forward, I will feature 2+ hope-filled posts and their writers each week.
